The North American publisher Yen Press has announced that it has licensed Gaku Tsugano’s manga adaptation of Nagaru Tarigawa and Noizi Ito’s The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series. Yen Press plans to release a volume every four months starting this October. (The fifth volume was released in Japan last October, but Yen Press only acquired the first four so far.) The science-fiction comedy light novels also inspired an anime franchise for which Bandai Entertainment released the first series in North America last year. The studio Kyoto Animation confirmed a second anime series last December.

Yen Press plans to give away posters at New York Comic Con this week and other items at Comic-Con International San Diego this July. Yen Press Co-Publishing Director Kurt Hassler emphasized that its manga release will not be censored.
